About Smith & lee
Gareth Smith and Jenny Lee are a husband and wife directing team.
In 2003, Smith and Lee met while working together for theater and opera projection designer, Elaine J. McCarthy on the Broadway musical Wicked.
Two years later, Lee moved from New York to Los Angeles and the two began creating title sequences. Their first title sequence was for Jason Reitman's debut feature, Thank You For Smoking.
More than 25 film and TV title sequences later, including sequences for Juno, Up in the Air, Cinema Verite, and
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, they have continued to combine their passion for filmmaking, animation, and design.
In 2015, to get back to their filmmaking roots, Smith and Lee co-directed the short film, Worst-Case Scenario, Inc. based on a short story by Kevin Wilson. Gareth Smith began directing short films with the hybrid live-action and animated film, This Guy Is Falling which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. Before moving to Los Angeles, Jenny Lee produced and directed short video content n New York. Her work behind the camera has taken her to Tokyo, Tibet, and Sierra Leone.
Smith and Lee hope to continue to make short films, video portraits, experimental videos, and branded content.
